Litany of complaints

It is so cold here that the kids had no school, and my university was closed this morning.

Last week, I parked close-ish to the godforsaken, across-campus building I teach in, and I scored a spot in an underground heated garage.  But then I lost my fucking car in the labyrinthian concrete rows and took an hour to find it.  So today I parked far away even though it is -15 right now.

My dad is still really sick.

In a terrible turn of events, Harry is also really sick with a brand new effusion and the same old answers from his cardiologist, which is to say NO ANSWERS.

I am getting fatter by the stress-filled day.

My brothers need help helping my parents because they have to return to work, but my 7 year-old is not cleared to leave the city until his Friday cardiology appointment, and my babies cannot come in my dad's hospital room.

I need a few more of me.

Until that happens, though, enjoy these pictures from 2009 of Harry and Jack that I found on my office iMac when I was trying to update iPhoto so I could access my streams and blog from my office because believe it or not this blog is the last item I need to check off the terribly ambitious checklist I made for myself yesterday.  That and prep the week after next's lecture, but I only have 12 minutes, so.  Choices.

I can barely remember them so small.

I put my arm around Harry this morning and he is so thick, his shoulders getting broader, denser.

Babies.

Whoa... You have a lot on your plate right now. More than most people could handle and yet you still have the ability to "complain" with humor and grace.
I can't fathom how frustrated I would be if Doctors couldn't figure out what's causing Harry's health issue. Yet that boy has a huge smile and is beaming in every photo you post. He doesn't know the stress his parents must feel - he clearly knows that he is loved, that he is blessed, and that he is safe. You two give him all of that. He is a lucky boy.
As for your Dad, is he showing any improvement yet? I know he must be incredibly weak and your family wants someone with him so he has all the assistance he needs. Are there any extended family members or friends that can help there in Peki

Pekin OR in Wisconsin? Could family friends help relieve your brothers? Or could Ben's parents come to WI to stay with kids or even travel to Pekin with you? Another option - could you travel to Pekin with the babies and get babysitting help from BUST?

  3. Oh my goodness, Sarah, I am so sorry to hear about your continuing troubles. I can't imagine the stress you are under. I have been thinking of you guys often since your last post and am hoping for the best for both Harry and your dad.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear that your dad is still so sick. You have a lot on your plate (sorry for the food analogy; probably not helping) on the best day, so I can imagine how stressful this is. You're in the my thoughts.

Those pictures are sweet. There are moments when I catch a glimpse of Ethan and he looks like a teenager to me. I just can't even...
