It is officially BIRTHDAY SEASON around here. We kick things off with Ben's 44th on 3/13. Dorothy officially turns 10 on 3/15. Jack is 15 on April 16th. I turn 45 on May 13th, and Beatrix is NINE the very next week. Harry is 17 on June 16th, and, really, we should have another baby because no one (but 'Merica) celebrates in July. We have our 18th anniversary on 8/6 and Minnie's 3rd birthday on 8/13. Cooper caps off our celebrations with his 12th birthday on September 9th. PHEW.
I have been, like, emotionally unable to deal with planning Ben's birthday, though, until we were done with Dorothy's party.
(I am not done buying presents for Dorothy-- something that is causing me TONS of stress, actually. She and Minnie and I have plans to spend a day shopping, etc, on her actual birthday, but she also needs things to open on the big day. Ben is slower about these things than I am and is in no hurry to just go ahead and buy our various shopping carts.)
But! As soon as the party ended, I badgered Ben for gift ideas and just ordered them all in one fell swoop. I spent WAY MORE money than I normally would have and even paid for expedited shipping on a couple things (I hate to pay for shipping). But! Gifts have been mostly acquired, and I am SO RELIEVED. I even took his cake order so I can grab supplies (he likes a chocolate layer cake with pudding in between the layers and whipped cream frosting).
All I have to do before next week besides bake, order the rest of Dorothy's presents, and wrap her presents and Ben's is figure out Dorothy's birthday breakfast, bake or buy her cake, and schedule/order her school treats. Normally she'd take them on her actual bday (3/15) but she is skipping school to shop and lunch, so?? SO MANY THINGS TO DO. MAGIC DOES NOT MAKE ITSELF. GAH.
You know what else does not make itself? Mac and cheese. But when the world's crabbiest, snottiest toddler says that's what she wants for breakfast, YOU better make it real fast.
Yes, you do need a July baby!! Love how your fam's birthdays are spaced out to give you something to celebrate every month. I didn't realize there was a seven-year-gap between Dorothy and Minnie... Ms. Minnie is going to be like an only child when Dorothy goes to college. I'm currently in that phase with my youngest and it feels weird.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be SO WEIRD to just have Minnie at home-- especially because I will officially be grandma-aged
DeleteAnother vote for a July baby! Although, GIRL. That is A Lot of birthday in a short amount of time. Birthdays stress me out so much, and I am kind of in awe that you do so many back to back. Superstar! But still, when you're doing so many, what's one more? July Baby sounds amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love the request for breakfast mac and cheese. I am a big fan of tacos for breakfast (not breakfast tacos) and my daughter likes Lunchables.
I would LOVE a July baby, but I think 'm too old **sad trombone**
DeleteMAGIC DOES NOT MAKE ITSELF.
ReplyDeleteTruer words have never been spoken!
FOR REALZ
DeleteWow, that is a lot of birthdays close together! Our family is small and our birthdays are all fairly spread out. And we are so incredibly low key about birthdays! Phil and I don't exchange gifts for any holidays as gifts are dead last in terms of our love languages! So we get off very easy!
ReplyDeleteIn my extended family, before I had my first child someone had a birthday in every month except March and October. I took care of March when I had Paul. Our 2nd was born in December - I said do not look to me to fill October!!
Hahahaha-- October is pretty festive already, though.
DeleteSeptember and October are the only months of the year that don't have birthdays in our siblings extended families (sibs, parents, niblings). I don't have to plan a million parties and find presents for all of those, though, so I'm content for the magic to solely be a greeting card. Ha!
ReplyDeleteOur parents and my aunt are right there with the cards-- which is quite a bit of mail. Greeting and gifts from relatives definitely make the magic happen, so gold star to you :)
DeleteIt was just my husband's birthday but he's rarely here for it because this stupid yearly trade show happens then and he's in California. I miss some things about having birthday parties, and some things I very much don't. I love the hungover baby demanding mac and cheese for breakfast. Good luck on making the magic!
ReplyDeletelol lol lol hungover baby
DeleteWow! That is an amazing streak of birthdays. You must finally exhale when September ends. Mac and cheese for breakfast? Why not? Carbs, dairy... ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, you have a lot of birthdays coming up - no kidding.
