Dorothy is TEN today. I call fake news on that, though, because I am certain she was JUST born the other day when I was a fresh-faced 34, and we already HAD a baby the day we brought her home (eighteen month-old Cooper). Or AT LEAST she is still a toddler sized bay, right?
I still think of her as a 5 year-old with impossibly tiny teeth (seriously, that turned out to be a THING and she just spent 18 months in a palate expander and will wear a retainer forever).BUT.
None of those versions is current, and she is DOUBLE DIGITS today.
Happily, her birthday list was still VERY little kid. She still has the giant Frozen Kidcraft castle she got for Hanukkah YEARS ago, and lately, she is really into decorating it for Calico Critters, who use it as an apartment building. So, we got lots of doll furniture and supplies, plus some American girl stuff. And today, we are going: to lunch, to get our nails done, to Kendra Scott to make jewelry, and to shop for whatever she wants. Ben is working from home to facilitate this (Dorothy is skipping school), but we have to take Minnie for some of these celebrations (not nails and Kendra Scott because she is 2– saving those for nap time), so we will see how that goes and how many Easter dresses Minnie comes home with.
Here are 10 pics of my favorite Dorothies in honor of a whole decade of fabulous:

Awww happy birthday to her!
ReplyDeleteThanks— it was so fun
DeleteAwwwww! Such a cutie! They do grow up TOO FAST though. And once again, I really wish she and my kid could play together. Mine loves Calico Critters as well.
ReplyDeleteI just read the birth story, which was so fun. LOVE a birth story and seeing photos of babies when they are all squishy and weary from arriving into the world.
I wish they could too!
DeleteI love that 10 is still a kid! Go Dorothy. Stay a kid as long as you can!
ReplyDeleteRight? Being a teen is not all it’s cracked up to be
DeleteSo cute! How does 10 years go by - Poof - just like that? I have one turning 12 in a week and I swear she was born yesterday?!
ReplyDeleteSO FAST
DeleteHappy Birthday!! I am so loving seeing her personality emerge and she seems like such a cool little human
ReplyDeleteShe’s a delight
DeleteAw!! Happy double digits birthday to Dorothy! Ten is such a cool age and she seems like the coolest ten-year-old 💗
ReplyDelete10 is pretty great!
DeleteOof, that top picture. I woke up hearing my 20yo son's toddler voice singing The Wheels on the Bus in my imagination this morning, and THIS ISN't HELPING. Happy birthday to everyone involved (principally her, and you).
ReplyDeleteHarry's phone has his 5th grade voice on the voicemail, and I will be so so sad when he changes it.
DeleteHappy birthday, Dorothy! I'm a newer reader, so it is fun for me to see how much toddler Dorothy and toddler Minnie look alike. I hadn't seen little Dorothy pics before! My daughter still plays with Calico Critters too at 11, and I love that!
ReplyDeleteYay! I hope Dorothy has another year of dolls ahead
DeleteThis is Lisa. Happy belated birthday! I love the flashback photos of your sweet girl!! I love how google photos is great at tagging people so you can easily look through all the photos of a person. That is one big plus to living in a digital age!! I hope she had a fabulous day!!
ReplyDeleteYES-- I looked back through tagged photos and it was a breeze
DeleteHappy birthday, Dorothy!
ReplyDeleteOh, happiest of happy birthdays to your TEN year old! I love all the pictures - she looked so much like Minnie as a toddler! Also, I love that you had her skip school on her birthday. Makes for a special day, for sure. :)
