Anxiety, my old friend.

(Midway through the day today, I realized that I absolutely should have washed my hair last night. I just, you know, thought I could squeeze in one more day, but I clearly could not.)

Um, my legs are 2 different sizes. AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE BEEN. My right leg is just thicker a little bit between my knee and ankle than my left leg. I looked at leg pictures of myself going back YEARS (how weird is that???? I have PMS-fueled anxiety FOR SURE) and discovered that this has always been the case, even in 1995.

The lady doing my pedicure (not on Friday— that went fine with Minnie, BTW) last time was like WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR LEG WHY IS IT NOT THE SAME SIZE AS THE OTHER ONE, and then I decided probably I was dying of DVT or something.

Before I looked at myself knees down from HIGH SCHOOl WHICH IS A THING THAT NORMAL PEOPLE DO I AM SURE SHUT UP, I remembered this picture from 2018 because when I posted in on FB I was like oh weird why is one of my legs fatter than the other?

Also, those are both really weird pictures, and I have just given them such a strange context. But! The first one! Is Ben and me in HIGH SCHOOL at SPEECH CAMP where we met, fell in love, and decided to go to that very place for college.
And then other pic is me standing where our beloved bronze statue lady Lydia Moss Bradley usually stands in Peoria, IL on Bradley’s (the same undergraduate institution we went for speech camp and college) campus. Someone bumped into her with their car, and she had to be repaired, so I took a picture standing in her spot because I love her and we are same size and like the same hairdo.

Well.

Now I have just made everything MORE WEIRD.

  1. TMI ALERT: I have two WILDLY different-sized boobs. Someone told me it's not uncommon, but it feels bizarre. In an ideal world I'd use two completely different cup sizes for my L vs. R but I just size up for the bigger of the two :)
Your legs are killer. I was focussed on how toned they look and think you look amazing in all your photos.
And you met Ben at a speech camp? That may be the sweetest thing ever.

  2. No one would ever notice it, but yes- I would say your legs each have a different shape. Again, I really doubt it's anything anyone would notice (except, apparently, the person doing your pedicure.) Well... bodies are weird. I feel like each side of my face has a slightly different complexion. I guess no one is symmetrical.

  3. You are the cutest. This whole post was so charming. You met Ben in high school? At SPEECH CAMP? That is the most adorable thing ever.

You have extremely toned and shapely legs. (Ugh I sound like a pantyhose salesperson.) I am envious. Which are both weird things to say to a person I have never met. Or to someone I HAVE met, honestly. But they are true.

  4. I've never noticed your legs before, but I have thought "she has really great legs!" So maybe the key is to have variety? I'm in the "one boob drastically smaller" club and one side of my mouth doesn't go up. I can still spin into "it must be a tumor" if I'm having a particularly anxious day. Also, NO ONE noticed this when I was growing up?! (cue middle child angst too)

  5. One of my legs is rebuilt with three plates and countless screws. It is definitely a different size. If anyone would point this out to me, I would CUT A BITCH. I get so upset when people talk about things I can't change re: my body. Argh! No body is symmetrical and I can't believe anyone said anything to you and I'm irate on your behalf. Let me at 'em. I'll give them a piece of my mind!

  6. I do have DMT! But hopefully I'm not dying of it. I think my legs are the same size but one is definitely lumpier than the other, with varicose veins.

  7. I have two differently sized legs, and only noticed it when I bought some winter dress boots. I wondered if I was missing some serious medical issue, or were the boots weird???? Also I have one side of my mouth a little different from the other, and one eye droops a litte (gets more noticeable as I get older). So I'm definitely not symmetrical. It's just part of my charm, I guess.

    1. Serious medical issue— exactly my first thought! Which is why I went on a picture hunt.

  8. No one is symmetrical. My legs are very different sizes, and honest to pete, I can't tell a difference between yours. I think we perceive our own, um, "weirdnesses" as highly visible to everyone when in reality, they are really just visible to us.
