I am sure I was too hasty to characterize our entire weekend as made up of bad decisions. We also had a lot of fun.
(THE SWING SET GUY QUOTED US 5K. FOR A SWING SET. FOR OUR TINY YARD. WHAT).
Dorothy and I saw Are You There God? It’s me, Margaret with dance friends and LOVED IT.
Dorothy also had opening day for her softball season, which was adorable, and Jack was clutch with Minnie on the Little League playground.
Ben finally used his tiny solo stove that he got for his birthday, and it’s so nice to sit outside with Harry and Jack instead of just sitting inside and watching TV. I really like the teeny tiny one because it only burns for 30 minutes, which is perfect for us.
Jack had a party on Saturday night, and Ben and I were able to go out for a drink and an app on the way to pick him up.
We had an excellent time as a family (Harry and Dorothy stayed home because Dorothy didn’t feel well, and Harry was happy to skip being in public with his embarrassing parents) at the Elks club Friday night, won $170 in pull tab lottery tickets, and made plans to go this coming Friday night with another family.
When I moved an old fave Pottery Barn lamp to sweep the floor behind the couch, the concrete bottom of the lamp crumbled and fell out (so weird!). BUT! We found an even cuter one at Target of all places.
WHY are swingsets so expensive?!?!
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading Are You There God to my kiddo and I can't wait to take her to see the movie. Glad you and Dorothy enjoyed it!
It was GREAT! Dorothy has been losing interest in the book (HOW?!) but a movie deadline was just the push she needed to finish it
DeleteSounds and looks like a wonderful weekend! I love that lamp.
ReplyDeletethanks :)
DeleteIt is CRAZY how expensive some things are...yikes! Our kids have never had a swing set, but I think it would have been soooo helpful in those little years.
ReplyDeleteI have dreams of just sitting outside while she plays
DeleteI mean--Ben's right in that you have a playscape already--it's just across the street :)!
ReplyDeleteNOT HELPING :)
Delete$5000! Ha! I mean, maybe they really didn't want to deal with your yard.
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S WHAT BEN SAID!!
DeleteThat’s a crazy price for a swing set!! Back when our kids were small my husband built a frame for swings.. and it’s still there!😅I think it may have been a kit/plan from Lowe’s.. speaking of which, we bought a lamp at Lowe’s a few years ago and the same thing happened to ours! I went to move it while vacuuming and the whole base crumbled…?! Sigh..
ReplyDeleteI had not idea there was even concrete IN the base ?!?
DeleteComment above from Ricki in NY
ReplyDeleteOMG. $5k. I shouldn't be surprised but that sounds obnoxious for a small swing set! We have become friends with a family that has a playground set in their yard so I am hoping we can hang w/ them a lot this summer. :)
ReplyDeleteSO obnoxious!
DeleteWell, yes, he just proved his obnoxiousness. Obnoxiousisity? Whatever. He's a jerk. Glad there were some bright spots! (Have never been to an Elks in WI; totally confused about pull tabs? Will have to google...)
