UGH the roads in Madison are TERRIBLE. Surrounding cities plowed and salted, but Madison… didn’t. Sooooo, for the next week we’ll all be driving on a sheet of ice. AWESOME. **eye roll**
Ben and I switched cars, and I made him help me clean his out and vacuum it in the freezing cold until I couldn’t feel my fingers through my gloves and complained THE WHOLE TIME about crappy cloth seats that don’t heat up.. HOW AWESOME AM I? But seriously, his car is SO MUCH BETTER on the snow than my van, and I am so glad to have a 4WD SUV to deal with roads that will be slippery until everything thaws— sometime many days from now. IT IS SO COLD HERE OMG. (Seriously, I bet the kids don’t go to school on Tuesday)
Ben also made a wonderful minestrone for dinner tonight (he said he googled a bunch of recipes and then made up his own) with Caesar salad and hot bread— like the Olive Garden at home. He was a super good partner this weekend, is what I am saying.
I have night cream analysis paralysis, just like I feared. I left Blue Mercury with samples of this, and I really wish it didn’t make my skin look so awesome. BUT IT DOES.
I am having SUCH a hard time finishing House of Earth and Blood even though I like it a lot. It’s partially that I do not have time to read and partially that fantasy confuses me because I don’t know the rules of the world, so I feel like I have to read every detail carefully.
Minnie was actually not a super helpful shopping companion.
(I flat ironed her hair)
I like Dorothy's wall!
ReplyDeleteLol at the Olive Garden in the comfort of your own home. That just gave me a craving for breadsticks and salad!
Me too— she’s SUCH a tween
DeleteI am currently eating cold raw cauliflower at nutrition break and soup and hot bread sounds really freaking good.
ReplyDeleteEve wanted to see Mean Girls so much she took the bus home from university one week after she'd already been home for reading week to see it with me at the NAC. We freaking loved it.
I love that you saw it together!!
DeleteNice work by Ben--I think that's just decided our dinner for tonight!
ReplyDeleteIt was delish!
DeleteLisa here. Your road situation reminds me of Minneapolis last year. It was so bad and we kept having this thaw and re-freeze cycle. It has been horrendously cold here this weekend so we have hibernated quite a bit which is not optimal for the boys’ moods. But the buckling and unbuckling of car seats is awful in weather like this! Paul can buckle himself but won’t when it’s so cold like this. Which I get.
ReplyDeleteI love Minnie’s rosey cheeks!! Such a signature look for her!!
I HATE driving Ben’s car because the awkward height makes the buckling even wooooooorse
DeleteThe roads are so so bad and neither of our cars has 4WD. There isn't a warmup in sight until NEXT WEEK, so I guess the next week is just white knuckling our way through.
ReplyDeleteOh boy. My husband is a teacher in Illinois, and they have no school today (making it a five day weekend- they had a snow day Friday.) Good luck with those roads! After my incessant complaining about the heat, I've decided that I'm actually happy I live in Florida after all.
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived in FL right now!!
DeleteOh gosh - I find it hard to do anything surrounding cars in this weather, like digging one car out of a snowdrift that Ed attempted to jockey around the dead car on the driveway. Moving seats out of the Great White so Ed could go pick up a very nice and very free couch from a friend. Eventually I will need to go out and rebuckle 7 carseats into the Great White and the weather will not yet be balmy when that happens. Pouting face. Coach was a good partner in that he jumped the minivan multiple times this weekend and came home on lunch to jump it and help me drop it off at the shop. Good times. He also heated up leftovers like a pro. Ha.
ReplyDeleteSouth Bend streets weren't plowed well either. I was there dropping Mini off late last night. Come on college towns, get it together.
Ugh, college towns— why don’t you shovel???
DeleteIt finally melted! DAYS later. Gah. And now of course... rain. So, yay, flooding?
