Welp. I am old enough to hurt my neck and shoulders shoveling snow and be, like, impacted by the discomfort.
Also! I started tracking my miles to see if I could maybe go 2,024 for 2024, and… probably not? But! I think in a couple of years, I could match my miles to the year with some slow-burn routine tricks, so this year I will track, and maybe by 2027, I will be jogging across the 2,027 finish line.
( i do not mean it will take me 3 years to go 2,000 miles. I mean it will take me 3 years to figure out how to fit 2,000+ yearly miles into my life. This year, I think I will be closer to 1800).
I think we can leave the house today, which is great because I need lotion for my face, a birthday gift for my MIL, a new broom, and some butter. All very specific and necessary.
Face lotion! I have been using THIS (I got a 1/2 ounce trial size in my giant makeup Christmas box), and I love it, but the price point is steep, which makes me think maybe I should explore other lotions at that price point because if I am going that far in, maybe I need to go all in, you know? But! This give-a-mouse-a-cookie thinking leads me to analysis paralysis, so I am going to Von Maur and coming home with at least the Absolue stuff. Unless Macy’s has a LancĂ´me gift or something. Then I wil go to there and not be distracted by my million other options, SEE? THERE I GO. (Maybe Blue Mercury is the place to start, actually?)
LONG STORY SHORTISH, I need to leave the house today.
With many costume changes
I would have taken pictures of the boys, but they were Downstairs People who wore Comfys and played video games all day long. They came upstairs when I was going to bed, hunting up a 4th for a euchre game. Hashtag bro life.I was shocked the kids had Thursday school since the streets were so terrible it took me 35 minutes to take Coop out for our weekly coffee, and he ended up being SUPER LATE.
AND WE HAVE BEEN AT HOME EVER SINCE.
I am now a shoveler. That is my life. Until further notice.

DeleteLook at all that snow.
ReplyDeleteI laughed SO hard at this line: It takes a village, even if you have to give birth to that village all by yourself, you know? Hahaha. That needs to show up on your next Christmas card or be the title of your book.
It Takes a Village (Even If You Have to Birth That Village Yourself).
Ooooooh good book title
DeleteThis is Lisa. You have SO MUCH SNOW! It gives me flashbacks from last winter when we got 100” of snow. We barely have any this year! We were supposed to get some yesterday but it was TOO COLD FOR IT TO SNOW! The arctic air hit us early so we are in for a long stretch of bitterly cold weather. I won’t leave the house with the kids today since the feels like temps is like -12F. Nope. We will see if school gets called last week for the temps. I really hope it doesn’t because I have a busy week at work. Although having Paul home is easy. I just feel guilty letting him use screens a lot so we can work. But I don’t have a village and didn’t birth one either (that was an amazing line, btw!!!).
ReplyDeleteI hope you got out of the house!! Also is that a full sized grinch sitting in that chair?? Taco would love that!!
It’s a dragon, but Minnie is also very into The Grinch
DeleteI hope you got out and found the perfect face cream! For future reference, if you purchase direct from Lancome online, they have excellent sales, sometimes 30% off of EVERYTHING. So sign up so you can be alerted.
ReplyDeleteGood tip!!
DeleteDermstore.com is also great! You get a discount on your first order and they send periodic discounts if you subscribe to their emails
ReplyDeleteOooooh I will check it out— thanks!
DeleteWe got 25 cm overnight but it stopped snowing earlier than it was predicted to and our neighbour helped us with his snowblower. My brother-in-law and his family are in Edmonton where the temps are predicted to go down to MINUS FIFTY this week (around where Celsius and Fahrenheit nearly converge, dear god). I am nursing my hacking cough today anyway, so am grateful it happened into the weekend.
ReplyDeleteWay to go birthing your own village!
Minus 50?!?! Omfg
DeleteThis post makes me wish you lived next door to me. One state away isn't too far at least. I died at birthing your own village. I'm trying to decide if I have enough sitters Monday to cover my daycare peeps whose moms are not teachers, so I can drive Mini back to ND and be back in time to see Curly's b-ball tournament. It's gonna be tight. I love the photo of Minnie in her carseat. Super cute.
ReplyDeleteOmg can you even imagine if we were neighbors? So many kids!!!! The bball games and street hockey tourneys could be epic.
DeleteI love your craft table with all the things and Minnie's delight. I hope you got to leave the house!
ReplyDeleteI sure did!!
DeleteMy dad gave my husband his old quad with a blade, and so he's been happily pushing around snow. Everyone on our road has their own quads, so it was very funny for a Calgary girl to see all these quads clearing off the drives on our secluded road.
ReplyDeleteOoooh that would be awesome
Delete"It takes a village, even if you have to give birth to that village all by yourself, you know?" HAHAHA. This line is EVERYTHING.
ReplyDeleteLOL— thanks :)
DeleteWow, everybody is getting so much snow right now. I am glad I don't have to deal with the shoveling, but I wouldn't mind a little winter wonderland :)
ReplyDeleteStaying quiet over here since I had the joy of someone doing it all for me (I live in a 1-bedroom apartment, though, so...your village would not fit, LOL).
