CLAW MY WAY OUT OF THIS ALL-CONSUMING FUNK. No smart goal for that one or anything. JUST SOMETHING I WANT TO DO.
That's it. The whole goal enchilada.
(I will be doing Elisabath's Cool Blogger Walking Club as well)
(Also I get my first colonoscopy mid-month and already hate it)
Speaking of all-consuming funk!
I was SO EXCITED to go to work and DO MY WORK in a QUIET SPACE on Monday. And! I had so much work to doooooooooooo because OF COURSE stuff came in at the end of the week before spring break, and I kicked the can down the road to post spring-break me.
Also! April 1st is the first day of Skirtathon, and I was wearing THE CUTEST Tommy Hilfiger dress from Nordstrom Rack, and we got everything ready to go on time, and we were right there! In the laundry room! With coffee and a Perfect Bar and water bottles and back packs and everything.
AND THEN MINNIE STARTED TO SOB BECAUSE HER EAR HURT.
She has had a cough and runny nose for over a week, so I wasn't, like, surprised. But the timing!!!
DOUBLE EAR INFECTION. NO SCHOOL. ANTIBIOTICS THAT SHE DETESTS. AMAZING. BRINGING MARCH VIBES INTO A NEW MONTH.
Oh Sarah. I'm so sorry about your funk, and Minnie's illness (AGAIN, POOR MUFFIN). I hope you come out of the funk very very soon, my friend, it's hard feeling so low.
ReplyDeleteI have advice for your colonoscopy, as my husband has had so many. It's very practical, albeit gross, advice. First, before you start drinking the liquid, APPLY DIAPER CREAM. Apply it liberally. Trust me. Also, stock up on some heavy-duty pads (I gave him my (sorry, TMI) Always Discreet pads to use, the kind that I used when I used to run, for, um, light incontinence?). I know these are gross things to talk about but they are very practical tips on making it better. The prep is the worst part, but it will be such a relief to be done.
What a cluster, Sarah. (Before I forget, I want to see pictures of this TH dress).
ReplyDeletePoor Minnie. Poor you. I hate when bad month vibes spill over.
You know I have been funking hard. Thankfully, real progress has been made on Hard Things, but still...there is a hangover effect for me from funks. I hope you're through to the other side soon, but it's tough.
What great advice from Nicole. I've not had a colonoscopy but I'm taking notes of the diaper cream suggestion which seems so wise!
Hope Minnie is feeling better soon and can I just admit I am SO DARN HAPPY PEOPLE ARE WALKING WITH ME. I swear that is going so far in bringing my out of my funk. <3
Oh, man. That is brutal. NO MORE SICKNESS!!
ReplyDeletePoor Minnie. Gosh she has really been through the gauntlet this winter. Ear infections are so awful. I was glad that Taco had tubes while he wasn't quite verbal enough to tell us his ear hurt - but wow it was a painful process to get to the point where he was cleared to get tubes (went through the same thing with Paul).
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to get out of a funk when the weather is so dang awful/crummy/overcast!
What in the world? Poor sweet Minnie. I can't believe she is sick again.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your funk. The weather here is dreadful and not at all spring like. I was hoping for some nice weather days after spring break to kind of carry us through.
I had not heard of skirtathon. Love it. I've had more than my share of colonoscopies. 1. I hope you like Jello. I do, and that's a win. God be with the family member who requests a bite of my Jello when I am doing the prep. 2. The prep has gotten remarkably easier than when I had my first colonoscopy circa @1995-ish. I was literally throwing up the GoLightly stuff I was required to drink. 3. It'll all be a distant memory soon, because you sleep through the procedure. Good luck!
Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear Minnie is unwell and seems to be in pain on top of it. Poor munchkin; poor you! That sad face in the photos :/
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Minnie! She's such a cutie, and when she's sick it's like if your favorite teddy bear wasn't feeling well- you a want to cuddle her and snuggle all day. Well- you probably didn't actually want to do that. You wanted to go to work.
ReplyDeleteANYWAY! I do have one thing to say- colonoscopies really aren't that bad. It's not as bad as it used to be, apparently. I got my first one a few years ago and the prep was... not fun, but okay, and then the actual procedure was easy. So... don't dread it too much. It'll be fine.
Oh no, poor Minnie! Poor you, with all of your fancy plans to go to the office and work undistracted! I'm sorry you're in a funk. I wish everyone could just come hang out with me in California, it's 75 degrees today and we're having salad for dinner. Tomorrow and Thursday it's back to cloudy and some rain though, so you'd better hurry.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the colonoscopy, I will echo those that say it isn't that bad. Nicole has some good tips, but I didn't need them. I've heard the same thing that Jenny and Ernie said, that the prep used to be a lot worse than it is now. I will want a report though, about how rested you feel after. My BFF has them often due to family medical history, and says that it is the best sleep she ever has, and she wakes up feeling like she was out for 10 hours instead of 10 minutes or whatever. When I had mine I didn't feel that great sleep feeling, just that I had nodded off a bit. But I generally sleep pretty well, and she doesn't. So, REPORT!
Ugh, that sucks hard for Minnie AND you. Things are going to shit over here too, so sending sympathy AND empathy. I had my colonoscopy and it was annoying, obviously, but none of it was as bad as I feared. Harder to manage with all you've got going on, though.
ReplyDeleteOh Sarah, you've really been through it, haven't you? And it seems like you just can't catch a break, especially with all of Minnie's illnesses. Sending lots of good vibes your way that this is the last of the badness for a LONG, LONG WHILE.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, I am late with my comment but wanted to send hugs. I hope that 5 days later, as I write this comment, Minnie and you are both feeling better. I'd appreciate any tips on getting out of the funk as I need them :)
