Today I am thankful (SO THANKFUL) that I am not usually sick. I have had a non-covid cough I cannot shake for over a week now, and it's been... not ideal. It's hard to fall asleep because I am coughing. I am racing through a Costco size bag of cough drops. I'm worried that Minnie is going to start coughing. The whole thing is stressful.
I'm also thankful for my generally cushy life-- not just because I am not usually hacking up a lung (exactly what this cough feels like). I was reminded of this at Costco where I just went for applesauce, PJs for Minnie (I swear to you I only buy the kids new pajamas for pajama day at school), and cough drops and ended up with... all of this.
I complain a lot (A LOT!) but we are really lucky in a lot of ways, and I need to do a better job of remembering that.
Also! HOW LUCKY ARE WE to live in a time when HUMIDIFIERS are ADORABLE?Since I started this post, Minnie did get a cough and also a fever. But her sick day fit is 100, yes?
(also behind her is Cooper who is NOT sick but IS heading to school in his PJ's anyway)
Minnie's 'fit and smile are so, so cute! She does not look sick at all, and I hope that means she's recovering quickly.
ReplyDeleteUgh, sorry to hear this! Coughs are so, so annoying, and they seem to last forever (why????). I hope you and Minnie feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteDead. I am dead now. That outfit!!!
ReplyDeleteUgh, sorry you're sick. Mark, who lives the dorm life, was sick twice in four weeks. It reminded me of Minnie last year! Anyhoo. Hope you feel better. I went to Costco this week for the first time since early October, since we were away and hoo boy. It was a big trip, let's say that.
I totally get the 'thank goodness I'm not usually sick' thing. I had an impossible cough a few years ago. I think precovid, because I don't remember fearing that it was a covid cough. Dang that thing lingered for so long, making it hard to workout and sleep. I raced thru Costco the other day, because I left it go too long and by the time I went I was tired and needed to drop food off for Reg at his coach's house to be transported to IN. I ended up coming home without Goldfish or Trail mix, so my at-home people are frustrated and Reg has enough food to eat till the end of time.
ReplyDeleteIt is so easy to take being able-bodied for granted. I had COVID a few weeks ago and I had not been sick in literal YEARS and I just wandered about wondering how people live like that. I was very dramatic about how I was not going to make it through. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo, so easy to take stuff for granted. I am feeling better with my throat, have my voice back, finally, and feeling thankful for the meds in spite of the fact that prednisone gave me a few headaches. Minnie is everything
ReplyDeleteI hope you will feel better soon, and that your daughter will not be sick tooo long. Her outfit is adorable though.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, that stupid cough has been going around. My husband and daughter and MIL and FIL and cousin have all had it. It lingers! Whenever I recover from a cold, I feel so grateful!
ReplyDeleteI was under the weather a couple days this week and today I felt normal, but it was amazing because I felt like I had energy for hours and could get anything done. Nothing like getting sick to make you appreciate health!
