5 on a Friday: 15 mins to blog (49/52)

1, OMG you guys. I was just at Lululemon buying stuff for Dorothy for Christmas, and I thought to myself I wish I could afford to shop here WHILE SHOPPING THERE for someone who will OUTGROW HER CLOTHES and wears a size 2. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO WEAR THOSE PANTS WHEN SHE'S DONE. The TL; DR is that if I want $150 sweat patns, I SHOULD BUY THEM Why am I such a mom martyr??

2. THESE YOGURTS!! Are so good! And only 130 calories and 10 grams of protein. I AM OBSESSED.

3. THIS BOOK! Is a freaking delight. Yes, it is set at Christmas, but it is a timeless story-- posting it now, though, in case you want a cozy holiday read.

4. Minnie and I used THIS RECIPE to make gingerbread peeps (and dinosaurs), and the recipe was actually kind of terrible. I am going to have to try again (but maybe when she is at school because damn that was a mess).

5. I had coffee with Anne today, and it was a delight. Meeting blog friends in real life is THE BEST. We kept referencing all of you in conversation-- so FUN!

  1. Lulu stuff is so freaking expensive. I just can't bring myself to spend that much on athleisurewear. I know it's meant to last forever but I'm currently wearing Gap body sweatpants that I bought in 2020 so cheaper stuff can work out ok. But I know that brand is all the rage with the younger tween/teen set.

The cookies are so cute! We are having a cookie decorating gathering with another family on our block but I just do round sugar cookies because GF dough is so dang finicky, I can't imagine trying to roll it out/cut out shapes!

Have you tried GF Jules all purpose flour? I know what you mean about GF dough being finicky. I can't remember why I tried it but it is MUCH less finicky! Not only can you roll it out, you can even flip it over the rolling pin to transfer it into the pie pan without it tearing! I find it's drier than regular flour, so you do need to add some more liquid than you usually would. I am not a bot, nor do I have a financial interest in the company. Just a happy customer that has been frustrated with GF flour and eager to help those who have similar complaints.

I have a few things that I love from Lulu but a few things that have NOT stood up to working out, washing, etc, for something so expensive. I stopped buying when I ordered two pairs of leggings and they arrived MOLDY. To be fair the customer service was good about it but it just really reminds you that all of this stuff is mass produced by the ton and stored in massive warehouses and is all just cheap crap at the end of the day

  3. I am here to be the bad influence and to tell you to buy the pants. Buy the pants! I have so much lulu gear (I get a discount! For being a yoga teacher! Even though I don't teach anymore!) and some of the items I have had since 2008. That shit holds UP is what I'm saying. I feel bad for the anonymous poster above but I have never had issues. I wash everything cool and hang to dry, which probably helps, but everything I have had lasts so long that when I recently outgrew (SOB) a number of items I was devastated. They were all in such great shape! Rob was like, Nicole, you can buy new clothes, these are 15 years old and YES THAT IS TRUE but still.
I saw you recommend that book and I put it on my list!

  4. I think I am slowly working my way up to buying myself a pair of Lulu pants. Nicole has been gradually wearing me down over the years (how can anything Nicole advocates be anything but The One True Way????) and then a friend came to visit this summer and she took me into a Lulu store and it was less scary than I anticipated (was I thinking it would be some weird Pretty Woman scenario where they would be all snooty when they saw the size of my thighs????) so I am Thinking About It. Not sure if it's clear, but I am Team You Should Buy The Pants.

I have one pair of Lulu shorts and honestly I don't think they hold up better than stuff from marshalls. I've had really good luck with Uniqlo - reasonably priced and the stuff lasts forever. I also got an amazing pair of workout paints from Nordstrom rack recently.

  6. Buy the pants, Sarah! (I don't have any LuLu stuff... but if you want it, you more than deserve it.)

I am with you as the mom martyr . . . Buying clothes for my people, BUT I did just buy myself a pair of Madewell pants online and I hope I love them. Lulu does hold up so well. I think should buy them for yourself. I kind of think that is the yogurt my bestie has been enjoying when she comes to my house for a playdate with her daycare tots.

  10. I buy Lululemon stuff for Angus because he lives and works in workout wear, but I don't have any interest for myself and Eve doesn't care, which is all kind of fortunate. My sister bought Eve a Lulu t-shirt for Christmas last year and texted me "it's his equivalent of the Little Black Dress, after all".
