Turns out, chilly beach is my favorite beach. We had a day in the 70s, a day in the high 60s, a day in the low 60s, and a couple days in the high 50s. AND WE LOVED THEM ALL.
Most of the staff at the beach club was wearing puffer vests, hats, and gloves, and Ben and I mostly stayed in sweats, but the kids were IN THE WATER. Wild.
In the summer, the Sea Pines beach club is PACKED, and there isn’t a pool on the beach. AND the Atlantic is lousy with jelly fish. So while there are chairs with drink and towel service, it’s HOT and STICKY and DIRTY. This way, we had to sit on the sand and walk to the bar, sure, but all of our favorite things to do were so much more pleasant— dig, play paddle ball, take walks, stare at the water while drinking a beer.
Looks fun! I'm more of a hot beach gal myself, but there's something nice about a cool walk on the beach.
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a fun time! I cannot cope with sand or oceans, but I love seeing your happy beautiful family doing gymnastics (where is your handstand, Sarah?!) on the beach!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! Maybe it's because I live in Florida and have been on hot, sticky beaches more times than I can ever count, but give me a cool beach day. I won't be going in the water, of course- but that's okay. I'll still enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI love chilly beach too. I would have been in the water.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have died from cold (I'm cold at most beaches in the dead of summer), but it also looks perfect. Such a fun day, and I HATE crowds, so that part might be enough to help me forget about the hypothermia.
ReplyDeleteI love a cool beach day! Sweatpants and a hat for the win. Sounds ideal to me. The beaches in Nor Cal are mostly pretty rough with big waves, and even in summer the fog can make it COLD. I love it.
